School building and learning spaces have been at the heart of the international congress whose goal was to highlight good practices, innovative tendencies and international trends in the designing of schools able to meet the challenges of the Third Millennium.
The debate on school building is first and foremost about a new notion of schools, where pupils and students' differences and peculiarities are acknolwedged and they are welcomed as dynamic, proactive individuals.
A reflection, undertaken by Architects, educators, educational researchers, school leaders and administrative staff, on the need to transcend the traditional school model with its classrooms and corridors to propose models and solutions that take into account the outcome of educational research along with the need to prepare environments that meet quality standards in terms of comfort and wellbeing.
The congress has been organized by INDIRE (National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research) in collaboration with the Association of Architects of Rome.
